»Dedicated to Ludwig Streicher«
For Contrabasso e pianoforte (Kontrabass und Klavier in Solostimmung)
Duration: 2 minutes
Premiere and first recording: by Jim Rappaport
The piece is the only remnant of an intended cycle for Ludwig Streicher, the principal double bass of the Vienna Philharmonic. It is written for solo tuning (a whole tone above the usual tuning), which serves to give the double bass a brighter timbre.
The miniature was inspired by Don Quixote's battle against windmills.
